A Voice for Change

A group of Aboriginal women are stepping up to the plate to effect change in the community, with the inaugural Aboriginal Womens Conference 2022, at Gunnadoo Farm on 20 and 21 September.

It's an opportunity for Midwest women to share their voices concerning issues that impact community, and to develop leadership programs, influence local policy, and co-design culturally appropriate strategies in partnership with local agencies.

You will hear from well-respected speakers including WA Senator Sue Lines, Community-based Social Advocate Jackie Oakley, Broome MLC Rosetta Sahanna and others.

The Geraldton Regional Library marked NAIDOC Week with the wonderful Because of Him ...We Can! exhibition.

The exhibition was to finish on August 1st but due to its popularity it will now run until September!

It features local Aboriginal men who have made positive contributions to the local community, and especially to Bundiyarra, including: George Cyril Abdullah (dec); Dale Forsyth; Gordon Gray; Wayne McDonald; Graham Taylor; and Wayne Warner (dec).

The pre-cursor to the Because of Him exhibition was the very successful Because of Her project created to celebrate local Aboriginal women during NAIDOC Week 2018.

Pop into the library at 37 Marine Terrace, Geraldton - this is an exhibition well-worth viewing!

*Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander and other First Nations people are advised that this exhibition contains names and images of deceased people and other content that may be culturally sensitive.*
